What is Delta 8 THC?

Delta 8 THC Delta 8 THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) is a cannabinoid which occurs naturally in hemp and marijuana. Delta 8 THC is an isomer of both cannabidiol (CBD) and Delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol (Delta 8 THC).

The “8” in delta-8 stands for the placement of a chemical bond, which is one step over from where it sits in Delta-9. Its structural similarity allows it to have similar effects, however, there are key differences.

DELTA-8 Delta 8 THC

Delta 8 THC does exist naturally, but it is commonly produced by converting CBD or Delta 9 Delta 8 THC using a chemical reaction such as applying heat, catalysts, altering the pH environment, or using solvents. Delta 8 THC is created in a laboratory, with the final form being that of an extract or distillate. This extract is then used in the production of a wide variety of products.

What are the effects of Delta 8 THC?

Everyone is different. The same is true for the effects of Delta 8 THC. We find that the effects can vary greatly per person. Factors such as a person’s weight, mental state, the time of day, and even hydration levels can all affect your experience.  Having said that, we would describe the experience as relaxing, mood-enhancing, euphoric yet clear headed and not overwhelmingly intoxicating. Delta 8 THC motivates and energizes some, especially at lower doses, and causes drowsiness and sleepiness to others, especially at higher doses.

The most common effects/uses are:

  • Mood enhancement (happy, smiles, giggles)
  • Anxiety relief (calm, relaxed, “chilled out”)
  • Anti Inflammatory (relieves aches & pains)
  • Increased motivation
  • Sleep aid (fall asleep faster, stay asleep longer)
  • Increased sex drive
  • Relieves nausea
  • Increases appetite

Delta 8 THC Delta 8 THC vs. Delta- 9 Delta 8 THC

Most users report a much cleaner and functional experience with very little “burn out” or fogginess afterwards. Effects have been described to resemble a similar feeling of consuming a Sativa strain of cannabis – energetic, happy, clear minded.

The majority of research thus far is showing that Delta 8 THC seems to be providing greater medicinal benefits than CBD or Delta-9.
